Castleblayney College

School Uniform

Wearing a uniform has many benefits for students and parents, such as:

  • It identifies students as members of their school community or team – a community which is proud to have them as members and which they should feel proud to affiliate with.
  • It reduces competition in relation to labels during the teenage years.
  • It assists an organized routine in the mornings.
  • It eliminates inappropriate attire being worn to school, just as would be expected in a workplace.
  • It allows students to be identified with their school when offsite on trips etc.

How we present ourselves says a lot about self-confidence, general attitude and pride in our school. We expect that the uniform of Castleblayney College will be worn in a manner which reflects this pride and confidence. This means more than merely wearing all elements of the uniform. It also means how the uniform is maintained and how it is worn. We ask that students and parents will ensure that the uniform is kept clean and well fitting, and that rips/tears are repaired without delay. Students should walk through the doors each day knowing that they look well, and they will benefit from the confidence that springs from this.

Further guidance on the wearing of the school uniform is included in the Code of Behaviour.

The uniform consists of:

  • Jumper: Bottle green, V-necked with wine and navy trim and school crest.
  • Shirt: Eau de Nil (Mint Green)
  • Tie: Wine tie or clip-on tie.
  • Trousers: Navy
  • Shoes: Black – not canvas or runners.
