Music

The aim of the Music Department is to promote a love for music-making throughout the school.

Music is offered at both Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate Level.

The three key elements of music are Composing, Listening and Performing. Students play an instrument or sing for both Junior and Leaving Certificate level. The practical at Leaving Cert is 50% which makes it an attractive subject at Leaving Cert. Music technology is offered at Leaving Certificate level. There is an annual trip to the National Concert Hall, Dublin and many other workshops and concerts throughout the school year.

There are many opportunities for all students to participate in extra-curricular activities in music. The school choir performs at the Monaghan/ Cavan Choral festival, parish Carol services and school services. The school produces an annual school show in which all non-exam years are welcome to participate.
