Sport
Castleblayney College provides opportunities for all students to enjoy an extensive range of games and physical activity. While the trophy cabinet is full and the school holds titles at County, Provincial and All- Ireland levels in various sports, we believe that participation in sport is more important than simply winning. In addition to the competitive sports, students are encouraged to enjoy outdoor activity and sport for fun.
GAELIC FOOTBALL

INDOOR FACILITIES
The school gym, with adjoining changing rooms, can cater for a wide range of indoor sports including: Basketball, Hockey, Indoor Soccer and Volleyball.
GAA FUTURE LEADERS
This Transition Year Module provides opportunities for Leadership as well as practical preparation as a referee. The skills and knowledge are both interpersonal and intrapersonal as these Young Adults involve themselves in local Primary School blitzes supported by Co.Monaghan GAA, while also mentoring 1st & 2nd Year sporting teams in Castleblayney College.

COMMUNITY LINKS
We have a juvenile pitch adjacent to the school, used for training as well as access to Senior football pitches courtesy of Castleblayney Faughs.
We have strong links also with Castleblayney Hurling Club, receiving generous sponsorship from Castleblayney HC when our Senior Hurling Team reached the Ulster Final last year.

SPORTING VICTORIES
In addition to the weekly P.E. classes, as part of the school curriculum, Castleblayney College teams successfully participate in and have an excellent record of achievement in a number of inter-school competitions in Gaelic football, Basketball, Soccer, Camogie, Hurling, Rugby, Athletics and Cross-Country. In recent years the Gaelic football teams have been County Monaghan Champions at senior and under-age levels. The Senior Hurling Team were Ulster finalists last year. The senior soccer team has been Cavan-Monaghan champions and Ulster finalists for a number of years. The Co. Monaghan VEC team that reached the 2008 All-Ireland final had eleven of our students on the team panel. In recent years, our boys and girls basketball teams have won regional and All-Ireland competitions.
